ABOUT SPERO LAW

Collaborative. Transparent. Responsive.

We take a collaborative and transparent approach to meeting the diverse needs of our clients. Founded in 1999 as Polishuk, Camman & Steele, the firm has consistently put honesty and integrity at the forefront of our work. We understand that relationships are at the centre of almost every legal issue. Our lawyers are skilled communicators, creative, strategic thinkers, and effective advocates, but most importantly, we are people—just like the clients we serve.

What’s in a name?

Spero (pronounced “sparrow”) means “to hope” in Latin.

Transformative changes often happen all at once; 2022 was such a year for our firm. Our esteemed colleague and friend, Anthony Steele, transitioned from equity partner to senior counsel after many years managing the firm. We then welcomed Kerry McGladdery Dent as our newest partner on September 1, 2022. We also moved from an office where we had grown the practice for nearly 20 years to a fresh new space.

After all this change, we felt we needed a firm name that better captured who we are and what we strive to be.

It was, in fact, a client who suggested the name, Spero. She told us that during a dark time, our advocacy had provided her with hope. And so, our name was born.

A name that reflects our firm’s vision.

Dum spiro, spero.

While I breathe, I hope.
